Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Yes that is two ticks because we had two in our house! Sunday right before we were to leave for church Clay was combing Houston's hair, and I hear him yell for me with a panic. I come out to "I think Houston has a tick." Like I would know what a tick looks like, I've never seen one in my whole life, and neither had he.
Sure enough that creepy thing was a tick. Houston was very calm through our panic. Clay (thank goodness, he was home to find the bug, I hate creepy crawlies) used the tweezers and pulled it out, only after researching the best methods to remove a tick.
I went to do more research on lyme disease and issues caused by ticks. I then returned to pick it up with a paper towel and it was lost when the paper towel created a breeze. Oh no, panic set in again. We need to find that bug before it finds someone else to feed off of. Luckily I found it quickly. Then Clay decides to burn it and goes to pick it up and he loses it too. By this time we were defintely late for church, and we once again have a lose tick in the house. We look for a few minutes before the older boys and I decide to leave for church. We left Clay at home to find the tick, exam Houston closely, give him another bath and do more research on problems associated with ticks.
So that leads us to tick number two. Today, Brodie was home from school with a sore neck (he tried to take his dad down in basketball last night, Dad won).Everything was pretty calm this morning I had just put Houston and Eden on the bus, when Brodie comes downstairs and says I have a bump on my head in my hair. I just thought he was being a little paranoid knowing Houston had a tick the day before. I went to exam him a little closer only to find a tick moving his legs. So gross. Brodie, starts demanding that I remove it right that second. Luckily, the tweezers were still out. I filled a paper cup half way up with water (there was no way I was going to loose that bug). We tweezed it out and everything was much calmer than the day before. The bug went right down the toilet. We examed Brodie closely, then decided to give him the short haircut he has been wanting for a few weeks. It is now short enough that no bug is going to be able to hide from us in his hair now.
I knew moving here I would have to be careful and watch for ticks. I examined Caylor carefully after his camp out with the scouts. Cleaned out his backpack and gave everything a good shake down before we even got home. I didn't think too much about ticks when I took the kids for a walk around our neighborhood lake, I was more worried about chiggers (which were not a problem). I think that is were they could of come from or playing in one of there friends backyard that has more trees than ours. I didn't think much of the kids playing under the trees, but I guess it could have come from there too.

Karoake King
Caylor is the karoake king around our neck of the woods. We returned to "Fatboys Barbeque" and Caylor sang "Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley. He did such a great job singing, and the people following him were not too talented so gave it a try. I brought down the house with "Material Girl" by Madonna. It was a bit too rocking for what they had before me (it was all real old slow country, even Clay didn't know the songs, and I thought he knew all the old country). People were coming out of the kitchen, and everyone was watching, or maybe I was real bad, but I think it was I picked some rocking music for the joint(next time I'll have to try some Katy Perry if they have it). Brodie wants to practice before he sings in front of anyone, and he practiced a lot last night. He looks forward to returning, but he is not going to make a fool of himself. I think the kids think we really are going back again next weekend (I did tell Brodie we were not going to go eat anywhere else until he sings too).

Houston's Birthday
Houston had a happy birthday. He was so excited to go to school, because he got to go to the treasure chest and were a special birthday sticker. He was excited that Mom went to school with him that day too. He was so excited to share a birthday treat. Before school started he put on his new Iron Man shirt then we went to the store and picked out a new pair of shoes, he just wanted a pair of Sketchers I didn't think he really cared, so I was shocked that he had such a strong opinion on what kind of shoes he would get. When then went and picked up his Walle cake, he carried it and wasn't going to let me help (not that he likes cake or frosting). He was so excited that as soon as we got home he had to blow out the number "6" candle. He promised he wouldn't eat any cake and he would blow his candle out again when Dad and the boys came home.
For dinner we took him to Chuckee Cheese (he has wanted to go there or Pizza Planet for quite some time). He had a blast and a very happy birthday.

Ferry, Fort Boonesboro, and Dinner on the River
We had lots of fun with Christi and Kris, we took them on Clay's Ferry (no not my Clay's). It was a little ferry that took three cars across the Kentucky River at a time. We then headed down some backroads and ended up at Fort Boonesboro, brushed up on our Danial Boone/early American history. Caylor once again was the star of the day and helped make a turnkey, which is what we today call a screwdriver. We then had dinner outside by the river at a place called "Hall's on the River" they even served frog legs, but Kris and Clay were not feeling to brave thank goodness I don't know that I could handle watching someone eat frog legs. Houston also celebrated his birthday a little early with Christi and Kris he loved that he got some ice cream, while the rest of us watched. When then headed out and all had ice cream at Christi's favorite ice cream stop "Cold Stone" and yes Houston had some more ice cream too.

First Reds Game for all of us!
So we had to take our sports fans to a sporting event while they were here, we first tried Keeneland horse racing, but Christi was having an off day that day. So the next day we took them to a MLB game we all enjoyed it. It was mine and the kids first MLB game ever. All Houston needed was a bag of peanuts to keep him entertained, I just felt bad for the guy sitting in front of him the shells were all over the place. Houston also tried so hard to get on the Jumbo tron. He figured out on his own if he was dancing and having a good time he was more likely to get on the big screen, and he tried!

Down Home Hospitality and Karaoke
We were so excited to have visitor's it seems like it has been quite some time since we had any (hint, hint). We all have been so excited for Christi and Kris to come visit us, and the day finally came, and went so fast. Kris gave us all a great Christmas present in December (tickets for Christi and Kris to fly from Vegas to see us), he thought he was giving Christi a present, but I felt like I got one too.
They are such great guest to have too.
We picked them up on Thursday night, and they stayed until Monday morning. We wanted to make sure Kris's first visit to Kentucky was fabulous, and one of a kind (that part was easy).
We took them to a real authentic Kentucky restaurant called "Fatboys Barbeque" Caylor even provided the entertainment singing "Life is a Highway" on the Karaoke machine there.

Loving this April Weather
This is the best Spring I ever remember, and for sure the best one I have experienced in Kentucky. We have had several days in the 80's and so many in the high 70's, with minimal humidity. As if that wasn't enough we have not had any serve thunder storms or tornado warnings. I am knocking on wood as I type this. Here is one of our warm days here.

April Fools!
So tonight for dinner the kids had cupcakes, which were really meatloaf with mashed potatoes for the frosting. For dessert it was pizza that was really a cake. As always the kids came home wonder what was for dinner. I pointed to the pizza (cake) and said pizza. Brodie was not buying that, so I pointed to the pretty green and blue cupcakes and told him pizza and cupcakes. Brodie let me know he needed more than just cake, cupcakes, and rolls (yes there was normal rolls and corn) for dinner. He was quite frustrated with my dinner plans when I stuck the cupcakes in the oven. He continued to let me know he needed more for dinner. It wasn't until the cupcakes were out of the oven that he realized that they smelled a little different than normal cupcakes. He really turned his sniffer on and determined that it was mashed potatoes the meatloaf was the surprise he had inside.
Houston on the other hand did not care what else was for dinner as long as he had his rolls. I told him he could have as many rolls as cupcakes he counted twelve rolls and said he was going to have twelve cupcakes. Well dinner started of course Houston had already put a roll on his plate, and had a few bites gone from it as well when he was reminded he would have to eat his cupcake. He laughed and with a big smile took a bite of his cupcake. He got a disgusted look on his face, started to gag then smiled again, swallowed what was in his mouth, gave the thumbs up, and said it was good. Needless to say he didn't eat any more of his cupcake. I think he was 100 percent fooled. Thinking he was going to have a nice bite of pure sweetness from the frosting.
